The first impression made upon me was one of wonderment that such a frail-looking lady had the stamina to stand upon the rostrum and deliver an excellent address, in a strong vibrant voice, without pause for twenty-five minutes.

A friend's explanation that the address was in fact given by a guide called Running Water while the medium was in trance, was received by me with a certain amount of questioning.

Over the next few years, listening to many words of wisdom from Running Water, all doubts were utterly removed from my mind.

As I became more involved with the London Spiritual Mission, I had the joy of becoming acquainted with Mrs Mackenzie and frequently acted as chairman at her services.

A softly spoken, modest woman, she possessed a deep and abiding faith which inspired all who met her. She insisted that all true healing came from Spirit and that she was but one channel through which it flowed.

So many have told me, "But for Mrs Mackenzie I would not be here," that I persuaded our beloved Nan to recall to me some of the past events of her life.
